A note from James Costello, Managing Director, Label Tech
As we approach the end of another year, it’s a fitting moment to reflect on the past twelve months at Label Tech. This year has brought its share of challenges and triumphs as well as plenty of growth and improvement. Let’s take a moment to recap the year and tell you about our latest innovations.
We were delighted to be involved in this year’s Irish Whiskey Awards, celebrating excellence in the industry. Attending the event was a pleasure, and it was especially rewarding to see some of our customers receive prestigious awards. Congratulations to all the deserving winners, and a special acknowledgment to the Celtic Whiskey Shop for their outstanding organisation of the event. Well done to everyone who made the Irish Whiskey Awards a resounding success!
In September, we attended the first ‘post-covid’ Label Expo in Brussels since 2019, which exceeded our expectations. With over 250 product launches in four days, the event highlighted flexible packaging, digitization, and automation, emphasizing the crucial role of technology in the printing industry. The numerous new capabilities and resources encountered have left us with plenty of food for thought as we plan for 2024.
As you know, technology has always held a crucial place in our operations, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to prioritising it. As a testament to this commitment, we recently integrated the GEW Aero LED system into our Mark Andy Evolution Presses. This has resulted in substantial energy efficiency gains for these machines, contributing significantly to our ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.
This year we also installed The VIVO Colour Solutions system on both of our Mark Andy Presses. VIVO makes colours work better in printing, packaging, and design, keeping them consistent and accurate, no matter what device you use. This saves time and money, reduces waste, and makes colours look great every time. It helps us achieve the colours you require, no matter how they’re used and produces consistent top-quality results. VIVO aligns well with the Spot master on our HP digital presses which let’s us add colourful and custom highlights to specific parts of a printed page, making them stand out and look more eye-catching. With the addition of these two components, all our machines now offer colour consistency across our printing platforms.
Our online ordering system ‘Siteline’ continues to go from strength to strength with more and more customers choosing to reorder their labels online at a time convenient to them. I know a lot of you are already using it. For anyone yet to give it a try, here’s what some of our customers have to say about it:
‘We have a number of labels that we reorder on a regular basis. Siteline allows us to logon, choose the labels we need and place an order at any time of day. It’s very efficient, saves us time when placing orders, making our jobs easier to manage.’ Life Science customer
‘Siteline allows me to order labels at a time that suits me, rather than within standard business hours, and the fact that all products are clearly archived and sorted greatly reduces the margin for error when ordering. It’s really a great help all round. The most important feature is that it’s properly monitored by very efficient and helpful human beings so that when questions arise, or I make an error in the order, it’s dealt with quickly.’ Food & Beverage customer
If you’d like access to the system, send us an email at solutions@labeltech.ie and we can get you set up. |
I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the team here at Label Tech who research, implement, and operate all our cutting-edge technology, we really couldn’t do it without them. 2023 brought lots of new innovations and they have taken them all in their stride to ensure you receive top class quality labels, on time and within budget.
We prioritise sustainability and eco-friendly options in our business, and we’re excited to partner with Avery Dennison for their AD Circular Liner Recycling Program. This initiative focuses on recycling label liners, encouraging businesses to collect and recycle these materials instead of discarding them. Through an online portal, companies can easily schedule pickups of used label liners by Avery Dennison, who work with recycling partners. The portal also provides valuable data, including analytics and certificates, showing the recycled liner material and the corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. For instance, recycling 1 kilogram of liner prevents 2.28 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions, contributing to a significant overall reduction over time.
We already have several customers signed up and availing of this recycling service. If you think the programme might be of interest to your company, do reach out and we can get you linked in for a trial.
Additionally, in preparation for the Re-turn scheme launch in February 2024, we’ve been actively printing labels for customers who will be impacted by the initiative. If you’re affected by the scheme and haven’t reached out to us yet, feel free to get in touch. We’re here to assist you with printing the necessary labels for a smooth transition.
Before I sign off, I’d like to express my thanks to everyone who completed our customer survey earlier this year. Your positive responses have motivated us to maintain a first-class service, and your invaluable feedback – whether positive or constructive – continues to shape our ongoing efforts to enhance our services. We really appreciate your input as it contributes significantly to our commitment to excellence. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts; it truly makes a difference in our continuous pursuit of providing the best possible experience for our customers.
Lastly, on behalf of Label Tech I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous start to the new year ahead.
Is mise le meas/Best Regards,
James Costello Managing Director, Label Tech Ltd.
